KCCCI delegation at KWCWC

KCCCI Explores Strategic Partnership Opportunities with the Kenya Women and Children's Wellness Centre (KWCWC)

The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI) today took a significant step towards strengthening its social impact agenda through a high-level engagement with the Kenya Women and Children's Wellness Centre (KWCWC), one of Kenya's leading institutions dedicated to supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), vulnerable women, and children.

The KCCCI delegation, led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr. Blak Aende, accompanied by Mr. Harbin Zhao and Ms. Damaris Karanja, was received by Madam Deloris Jordan, President and Founder of the James R. Jordan Foundation, Founder of KWCWC, and a globally respected philanthropist whose work has transformed thousands of lives across Kenya and beyond.

Widely known as the mother of basketball legend Michael Jordan, Madam Deloris Jordan's impact extends far beyond sports. A recipient of the prestigious Clinton Global Initiative Award, she has dedicated decades of her life to humanitarian causes through various charitable organizations, including the James R. Jordan Foundation and the Kenya Women and Children's Wellness Centre.

During the engagement, Madam Jordan shared her inspiring journey, recounting the vision, passion, and experiences that led to the establishment of KWCWC. She highlighted the organization's tremendous impact over the years, supporting women and children affected by abuse, poverty, neglect, and social vulnerability through rescue services, healthcare, counseling, rehabilitation, education, and empowerment programs.

The delegation was also taken through a detailed presentation by Ms. Iren Atim, Operations Manager at KWCWC, who outlined the Centre's vision, programs, strategic partnerships, and future aspirations. Discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration between KCCCI and KWCWC, particularly around community empowerment, healthcare support, education, corporate social responsibility, and economic empowerment initiatives.

One of the most remarkable moments of the visit was a guided tour of the Centre's world-class facility. The delegation had the opportunity to witness firsthand the scale and quality of services offered by KWCWC. The facility boasts modern conference rooms, an events centre, an auditorium, a fully operational rescue centre, counseling units, accommodation facilities, and a state-of-the-art outpatient medical facility serving both survivors and the wider public.

The delegation also interacted with dedicated staff, medical professionals, caregivers, and survivors whose personal stories served as powerful reminders of the importance of institutions such as KWCWC.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Blak Aende lauded Madam Deloris Jordan for building and sustaining a globally respected charitable institution while quietly transforming lives across Kenya.

"It is truly inspiring to witness the impact that Madam Deloris Jordan and her team have made over the years. Thousands of women and children have found hope, dignity, healing, and a second chance through this Centre. What impressed us most is not only the scale of the work being done, but the humility and discretion with which it is carried out."

— Dr. Blak Aende, CEO, Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI)

He further called upon corporate organizations, development partners, and well-wishers to support the Centre's vision and programs.

"The survivors here do not have to be our mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, or relatives for us to feel their pain. Their pain is our pain. As KCCCI, we are committed to mobilizing our members and partners and returning here in a special way to support this noble vision."

The visit also deeply moved Ms. Damaris Karanja, who was overwhelmed by some of the heartbreaking stories shared by survivors and staff. She passionately called for collective action against Gender-Based Violence and encouraged victims not to suffer in silence.

"Gender-Based Violence remains one of the greatest threats to the dignity and wellbeing of women and children. I urge anyone experiencing abuse to speak up and seek help. There are institutions like KWCWC that are ready to listen, protect, and support survivors. We must all play our role in ending GBV."

— Ms. Damaris Karanja, KCCCI

Ms. Karanja also congratulated Madam Deloris Jordan, the management team, doctors, caregivers, and support staff for their unwavering dedication and service to humanity.

The engagement concluded with both organizations expressing a strong desire to explore strategic partnership opportunities that will create sustainable impact across Kenya. Discussions centered on areas such as women empowerment, healthcare support, educational initiatives, community development projects, corporate social responsibility collaborations, and resource mobilization.

As KCCCI continues to expand its footprint beyond trade and investment into social transformation, the Chamber remains committed to partnering with organizations that are creating meaningful change in society. The visit reaffirmed a shared belief that sustainable development is not only measured by economic growth but also by how society protects and uplifts its most vulnerable members.

Together, KCCCI and KWCWC are exploring pathways to build stronger communities, empower women and children, and create lasting impact for future generations.
